Last minute Valentine's Day advice 

To help avoid a Valentine's Day disaster

DOs
  1. First impressions are important - do your best to look good and be yourself.
  2. Do try to make your Valentine feel comfortable.
  3. Do arrive on time.
  4. Do something different, but not too different!
  5. Do use mouthwash & deodorant to mask those unpleasant odours you're famous for.
  6. Do try to be a bit romantic.
  7. Do discuss their interests as well as your own.
  8. Do keep the conversation flow going.
  9. Do laugh at his/her jokes.
  10. Do respect and respond to your date's wishes.
  11. Focus and listen to your date's conversation without interruption.
  12. Thank the other person for the date. It's just human kindness.
DON'Ts
  1. Don't tell your partner about that perfect present you almost bought them.
  2. Don't give the same Valentines card you gave last year.
  3. Don't overdress - you're not getting married!
  4. Don't wax lyrical about your previous 'conquests'.
  5. Don’t forget to wear clean underwear.
  6. Don't tell your date you forgot your wallet again.
  7. Don't leave your date alone with your parents, flatmates or pet.
  8. Don't order the clam chowder - we have it on good authority it's been around too long.
  9. Don't buy your partner household appliances for Valentine's Day.
  10. Don't wipe your nose on your sleeve.
  11. Don't give your partner an engagement ring that was meant for someone else!
  12. Don’t club baby fur seals.
